WHAT IS THIS?
The "5 Things That Are Hot and Not About Destiny" is our regular weekly segment here at the YOUR Destiny website and meant to be a column on what has been going on, either, in Destiny generally, or in the head of the columnist specifically.
The column will be written by our resident writers and their opinions are obviously just opinions - you might disagree, heck, we'd almost be disappointed if you don't disagree! Feel free to participate in the discussion on our Facebook Page!

5 THINGS THAT ARE "HOT" ABOUT DESTINY!
1. THE META
The current meta is excellent and extremely varied in our opinion. If you look at the large variation of the character distribution in recent Regionals, there has hardly been a more diverse lineup so far. Even good ol' Palpatine is in there! The dominance of various archetypes have always been up and down, but the chance of winning never felt so equal. Check out Claus Staal's articles about these archetypes, if you don't already know them.
2. VADER LOVE
What would a hot list be without the evil man in black? Although his dominance in the meta is not loved by everyone, we are happy to have him as a gatekeeper a la Kylo2. To be honest, in most situations I am pleased to be an opponent of a decent Fear and Dead Men. Such a great scene and presentation of his true power. On the other hand, what's more likely to impress everyone is the Regional Play Mat and the wonderful new Darth Vader - Terror to Behold Spotgloss cards. I want the thing.
3. BIGGER TOURNAMENTS
Contrary to some expectations, the number of participants at European tournaments is steadily increasing. Even in Germany, where the largest local Destiny scene consists of just under 7 players, we hosted a Regional with 24 participants. Of course this is nothing compared to the big tournaments overseas, but in comparison to my first regional it's huge. In the latter case, our group from Trier, in 2018, represented 7 out of 11 participants. That development is also due to the fact, that old players seem to rise again. Awesome!
4. INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE
In addition to the last point, it's great to have a cohesive community in Europe. Various players from neighboring countries honor relatively small local tournaments with their presence (for example, Belgian, Luxembourgian and UK players in Trier last weekend). Although the players eventually have their fun, but the cost of travel and overnight are already comparatively high for a simple day tournament. For an organizer, it is then very satisfying, on the one hand, not to stay on top of costs and, above all on the other hand, to be able to fill the tables with players.
Since the founding of the YOUR Destiny Discord Channel in the summer of 2018, international exchange has intensified and deepened for us. Absolutely HOT!
Lego movies ... either you like them or not. This series should appeal to most Star Wars fans. At least if they have children who have not yet reached the age limit necessary to watch the original trilogy. I was even skeptical myself, but the simple humor and the regular references to known and lesser-known Star Wars characters kept me entertained. Why is it in here? I just found out about it and needed a fifth HOT. Anyways: A series worth a look!
5 THINGS THAT ARE "NOT" ABOUT DESTINY!
February and March are packed with potential tournaments. Almost every weekend, participation in Regionals or Galactic Qualifiers would be possible. The only thing it takes is a little free time. Unfortunately, that's exactly what is currently lacking. Being busy is usually good and right, but it would certainly be a pleasure to travel to ALL events that can be reached in 4-5 hours. Being forced to opt for one or two of the many offers is utterly annoying.
2. WORLDS 2019 LOCATION
So let's get to the luxury issues. At least for most sports and some of our other competitive or less competitive games, the location of a WORLD championship will vary gradually. It would be nice if other regions, could show their hospitality to the Destiny community. Of course, there are far too many arguments that speak against it, but one can always hope! Rebellions are built on those!
Well, hopefully this point will not be misunderstood by anyone out there. Nevertheless, we would like to include it in this list. It should be said that we obviously respect the views of others on this matter and will act accordingly in the future.
In an age of constant information flow, almost unlimited access, it would be close to impossible to keep any secrets. Even the US Government with all its fancy safeguards and security hasn't been able to keep information from being leaked. That's one thing, but I also believe it is counterproductive to the game itself to keep specific lists secret, be they creative, innovative or a special meta counter.
We believe that brisk exchange and public discourse leads to more progress and development, as one could well see towards the end of the last meta. And thirdly, for us this general progress stands above the personal, individual benefit. A good player does not need a secret deck tech to win a tournament.
4. NOT CUTTING YOUR OPPONENT'S DECK
This topic was really discussed enough, we know. Cut your opponent's deck. Not doing it, is a big fat NOT. If you have no idea where this is coming from, then read the last week's 5 Things Article!
5. LOW TECH EQUIPMENT
Not being rich and to work with miserable technology sucks. This is my current laptop that I use for streaming and editing the YouTube videos. It takes several hours to render and edit the videos, which is why the content is delayed. A very PERSONAL NOT, but a NOT at least :)
